Have bit of history in racing, co drove on Dunlop Targa when I was 14 but didn't do any more past that. My father did many racing of track and Tarmac racing in his E-type. I myself have only attended a handful of track days, starting from 2011. Have what was originally a fairly stock R34 turbo I have gradually been building it up but it is very much still a street car. Goal is to get more seat time and eventually get a track car. Funds are the big issue though. Smart thing would be to fix my old car, sell that, sell skyline and then start small. But I like boost and am still having fun. When that gets boring I will move on to racing me thinks.
I did compete years ago. From around 1999 to 2009. Using my roadcars,MK2 Escort through to 2 S14 Silvias in speedevents, autocross and other events.Best result was a 2nd in the Canterbury car club speed championship,3000cc+ class in 2007 in my 2nd Silvia.I even ran two rallysprints in the Escort,no roll cage was needed for that event, was a huge rush. Have also done a few events in that time,in the car in my profile pic. MK1 Escort 2ltr with a reasonable sized turbo fitted. It started being built in 1984 when my brother had finished high school.Took him and my dad 5 years to build it. First event was 1989 Hanmer rally. We last drove it at a rally sprint at Ashley forest in 2001. It's sat gathering dust for the last 15 years and is finally getting a rebuild.Bigger turbo and a better setup for the turbo.Bigger brakes,5 speed gearbox etc. Shame I probably wont get to drive it in anger being over here.
The pic is from the 1989 Hanmer rally. He hit that ford showing 100mph on the speedo. It landed, but bent the front suspension.

I've got a VH commy that I wanna build up to be a street/track car, not enough time or money to go all out on racing, looking at chucking in a Ls1 with some goodies to get some nice power and some bits and pieces to make the thing handle better, only track time I've had is couple goes in a cart at the hawkes bay carting track and a few skids in the mates cefiro drift car. Wouldn't mind doing some Targa rallys in the future though.
Rally is something I definitely want to do. Whether it be gravel or tarseal. Have a love for escorts and being sideways. Yobbo that must have been a serious rocket.
faknchuckn0rris targa is something I need to do. Want time in a drift car as well. Last track day I spent the afternoon sliding my car around Taupo race track, most fun I've ever had. Building skills up through track time, will be looking at joining a club and doing some club events soon enough. My partner is also into the same things and wants to do them in her car. Alas, money is he issue here too...

Just a couple more pics. Me in the Escort in 1999 at a Ruapuna twilight speed event. And the Silvia at an Autocross in around 2003. Was always hard work doing those in that car. Stupidly stiff Japanese coilovers,100mm ground clearance,2 way nismo diff made for a rough ride.

Yobbo that escort looks super amazing, so jealous, that's like a dream car
I'm getting pretty heavily into my motorsport. I have been having heaps of fun in the 2kcup for the past three years along with my Dad in an MR2. We call ourselves Toymota Racing. I have actually won the under 25 shield all three years. www.ToymotaRacing.com
And here is a nice video of it:
My dream since I was a small child has been to go rallying. Back in the day my Dad was a codriver and my neighbour was Mark Tapper (rally driver). I got into the 2kcup as a "cheap" entry point into motorsport. A couple of months ago I went to rally school and drove on gravel which was so so much fun. Talking to David Holder and Hayden Paddon they say I should learn rally in a small fwd so we are currently looking for one to buy.
My former boss co-drove for Mark Tapper when he did that Pirelli Group N WRC scholarship. The Escort was a good car, very solidly built. He only ever had one decent crash in it at Timaru when he missed a corner, went down a bank and slowly rolled once back on its wheels. The guards were pushed onto the wheels so they couldnt get out of the paddock in the allowed time. I also broke my neck in 1991 as a passenger at a rally sprint in Hanmer. It only got diagnosed a couple of years ago, have a C2-C3 fusion. Don't think I'd get in a race car again without a hans device.

ive done a track day, dont have any worthwhile in car footage (wish i recorded the session this pic was taken from) im on pole lol, well not exactly i was excited to get out there and lined up first, go overtaken by most, 4 speed automatic on a racetrack not a good combination, and a wagon. Camry wagon brakes are not designed for racetracks, probably a good think sessions were 15mins each they were so hot and really didnt have much faith in them. i really want to drive a decent car in anger around a race track

A few years ago participated in the Taranaki Club, moderately successful in a Mk1 Escort 1600, stock as a rock, grasskanas, Bent sprints, timed gravel sprints, unfortunately family came along so monies were required elsewhere. Finished second overall in class points and overall Speed champion. In the future need to finish my dads car (74 VJ Charger) started as a need a paint and rust repair full panel rebuild, would like to get another one to have a serious play, nothing like a screaming six, check out Cameron Tilley racing the six does the bizz in Muscle Car Masters....

Had heaps of issues this track day. Ruined my slicks so ended up driving on my street tyres. Ruined brake pads and exhaust tried to fall off again. Here's my fastest lap so far. Need more track time yo
